Raymond attended Richmond's Stand-In for Affordable Housing

Affordable Housing now!

Putting the Economy Back on Track

“Our economy is in turmoil, and we need an Ignatieff-led Liberal government with a real plan for renewed prosperity. I was proud to serve in the cabinets of Jean Chretien and Paul Martin which eliminated a $43 billion deficit and brought Canada to the forefront of global economic growth with seven consecutive budget surpluses. Together, with your support, we can put the economy back on track once again.”

-Raymond Chan

Raymond is committed to encouraging international trade relationships to produce high-paying jobs in Richmond. Also using his 16 years experience as a lead engineer at UBC’s TRUIMF labs, he will continue to advocate for the creation and expansion of high-tech industries in Richmond and across Canada.

Confronting the Climate Change Crisis

Confronting the Climate Change Crisis requires our commitment to change how we think about the environment. The Harper Government has no plan and to do nothing is not an option. We have a moral obligation to protect our environment.

Improving Health Care

Raymond will defend our public and universal health care system. He will fight for shorter surgical wait times, faster emergency room services, better home-care, and less expensive prescription drugs.

Advocating for Seniors

He will advocate for seniors on issues such as pensions, home-care, and affordable housing. A Liberal Government will not betray seniors as Harper’s Government did with the Income Trusts. We will make sure seniors get the attention and respect they deserve.

Caring for Our Community

Strong communities are the backbone of a strong country. This requires programs that will end homelessness, reduce poverty, provide jobs for the unemployed, and provide opportunities for youth at risk

Providing Affordable Housing

The middle class is being squeezed by record setting house prices and soaring rental fees. Richmond urgently needs affordable housing, especially for seniors, young families, and the disabled. Government has a moral obligation to provide support for those in need.

Tackling Crime

Raymond has advocated for a three-pronged approach to focus on stricter criminal sentencing, stronger police enforcement, and more support for crime prevention and Youth-At-Risk programs. It is imperative that we tackle gang violence, gun smuggling, hard drugs, and identity theft.

Investing in Infrastructure

Raymond advocated for and delivered $450 million from the former Liberal Government for the Canada Line. We must continue to invest in public transportation and infrastructure to combat gridlock effectively.

Supporting New Canadians

Raymond has opposed the Conservatives backward Bill-C50 on Immigration, which allows the Immigration Minister to “pick and choose” which kinds of applicants to accept and which to deny, at her near-exclusive discretion. Raymond and the Liberals have announced a $800 million commitment to substantially reduce immigration backlogs and better assist new Canadians with settlement, job training, and language skills.
